Author: Seth Mullins

Pages: 246

Genre: Metaphysical

Format: Paperback/Kindle

“The echoes of those scars can clearly be heard in Edge of the Known’s music. But one can also discern, quite distinctly, that other inexplicable thing that is within us all, the undying flame that transcends our wounds and sufferings…” Brandon Chane had always seen life through the eyes of an outcast, a misfit, a young man at odds with the world and with himself. Now they’re calling him a wounded healer; a shamanic Pied Piper for the throngs of alienated youth; a thief of fire. He wonders if he and his band can escape the claims that the world has suddenly laid upon them. Thank you for this interview.  Do you remember writing stories as a child or did the writing bug come later?  Do you remember your first published piece?

I was more of a visual artist as a child. The stories were there, behind the pictures, but they stayed inside my head for the most part. The earliest I remember being drawn to creative writing, and feeling like I had some aptitude for it, was in the 8th grade. My first published piece was a poem I wrote at 17.

What do you consider as the most frustrating side of becoming a published author and what has been the most rewarding?

The most rewarding aspect for me is just the manifestation of a book, knowing that what once lived inside my head is now in tangible form and “out there” in the world. The frustration comes when you realize that just because it’s out in the world doesn’t mean that anyone’s going to read it. Self-promotion and writing require very different mental muscles.

Are you married or single and how do you combine the writing life with home life?  Do you have support?

Single. I have a considerable amount of time to write, which is ideal for me because I like to ‘weave’ it around other activities throughout the day instead of devoting one big block to it. Ideas flow better for me that way.

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not writing?  Where do you like to vacation?  Can you tell us briefly about this?

I live around mountains and woods and like to hike a lot. I also enjoy the water, especially in a kayak. I do a little photography and occasionally render scenes out of my dreams in papier-mâché. I have family spread across many of the States, so my rare vacations usually involve visiting people I know.

If you could be anywhere in the world for one hour right now, where would that place be and why?

Right now I feel drawn to the Egyptian pyramids. The insight and ingenuity that went into their construction fascinates me, and I want to witness it firsthand.

Who is your biggest fan?

Well, I’m reluctant to speak for anyone…

Where’s your favorite place to write at home?

I move about a lot, because I discovered a while back that when I’m in motion my thoughts are also. I may work for a while at the kitchen table and then on my bed, propped up on pillows. I’ve written on napkins set against the walls before, because inspiration hit and nothing else was readily available.

Do you have any pets?

Unfortunately no. That’s a goal for when I have a bigger yard.
