Living Stones Book Tour

She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Nearly killed in Seattle during a jihadist bombing, Ashley recognizes the synagogue bomber and is later stalked by a hired Muslim hit man in Israel. There she reacquaints with Najid, the Christian Palestinian scholar she had met at the University of Washington. She falls in love with him, putting her at odds with her Zionist pro-Israeli convictions.

On the run, Ashley sees the beautiful rock churches and shrines.  But the living stones, the people of the Holy Land intrigue her. She meets Jews and Palestinians, Rabbis for and against Israeli settlement expansion. Gentle Palestinians like Najid’s family, and those in the West Bank suffering under military occupation. Both Muslims and Christians living peacefully together.

Najid and Ashley find the bomber in Seattle despite the FBI dragnet put out to arrest him.. Living Stones is the story of an American woman coming to terms with the truth of the Middle East, and the lies she had been fed. Will she survive the forces that threaten to tear her apart?

Thank you for this interview, Lloyd. Do you remember writing stories as a child or did the writing bug come later?  Do you remember your first published piece?

A:   The bug came later.  In the past, I’ve written 24 articles and two book chapters in peer reviewed journals/texts but don’t remember which one came first.

What do you consider as the most frustrating side of becoming a published author and what has been the most rewarding?

A:  The rejections we call “re-directions.”  The wait to hear from publishers.  The most rewarding, when a publisher thinks you actually can write a good story!

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not writing?  Where do you like to vacation?  Can you tell us briefly about this?

A: Skiing, mountain climbing, working in hospitals around the world.  Recently we’ve enjoyed Israel/Palestine, before that, Europe.

If you could be anywhere in the world for one hour right now, where would that place be and why?

A: Bethlehem.  We grew to love the gentle, hospitable and open Palestinians who made us feel totally at home.

Who is your biggest fan?

A: My wife Marianne

Where’s your favorite place to write at home?

A:  In my office, a room dedicated to business and professional matters.

Do you have any pets?

A:  Not any more.

Tell us a secret no one else knows.

A:  Then it wouldn’t be a secret.  Well, OK.  I’d like to soar on a hang glider.

What’s on your to do list today?

A:  Answering e-mail, arranging for a book signing, going to a writers’ meeting this evening including our critique group.

Thank you for this interview, Lloyd.  Good luck on your virtual book tour!
