From My Heart to Yours ABOUT FROM MY HEART TO YOURS

With an emotionally secure and sheltered upbringing, Sofia, was in for an unexpected ride when she married Earl. Their stable and unnerving union would take deeper turns as they experienced(?) health issues, betrayal and shattered hearts. With each new circumstance Sofia faced, she shed a layer of naiveté, deepening her perspective of life. Beautiful life lessons learned from preschool children healed her wounds and dissipated her scars. They taught her about the human condition at it’s purest. But then the biggest tragedy happened in Sofia’s life, leading her to seek deeper answers. At the end of the book (her story?), she learns that the art of life is how we deal with it’s struggles. Through a powerful and inspiring journey into the soul, she regains the light and love within.

Q: Can you tell us why you wrote your book?

My book “From My Heart to Yours: Based on a True Story” is inspired by my own life. You follow the character through love, loss, life and death. In the end, she realizes we are all here to learn lessons. The art of life is how we deal with our lessons.

Q: Which part of the book was the hardest to write?

There is a tragedy that occurs in the book, as it had in my own life. And that chapter is a play-by-play account of exactly what happened on that day. I had to resurface the horrible, raw emotions.

Q: Does your book have an underlying message that readers should know about?

I would like my readers to take away that we are all in this web of life together. The human experience is interconnected with pain, lessons and joy for all.

Q: Besides books, what else do you write?  Do you write for publications?

I write blogs on life and spirituality that can be found on my website: MichelleZarrin.com

Q: Do you have a writing tip you’d like to share?

For any aspiring author, I urge you to not give up. The journey of writing a novel may seem overwhelming, but even if you commit to writing one page per day, you will have a book by the end of one year.

Q: Where’s your favorite place to write at home?

At home I write in my office. Outside of home, I enjoy going to a resort in Laguna Beach. I sit in the lobby overlooking the ocean and allow the view to inspire me.

Q: What do you do to get away from it all?

To get away from it all, I take long walks along the beach or go hiking. To truly get away from it all I attend ten day silent meditation retreats where I practice Vipassana meditation for eleven hours per day.

Q: What was the first thing you did as far as promoting your book?

I told my friends and family.

Q. What is the most rewarding part of being an author?

The most rewarding part of being an author for me is that I have told by many who have read my book I wrote a very inspiring, vulnerable and touching story.

Q: Your book has just been awarded a Pulitzer.  Who would you thank?

I thank the connection I have with God, allowing my creativity to flow through the power of words. I also thank my readers for joining me in this web of life.
