The Interview

Q: Can you tell us why you wrote your book?

I wrote this book to help others through the difficult process of spiritual emergence. Every living person will go through it at least once in their lifetime.

Q: Which part of the book was the hardest to write?

The Hero’s Journey by Joseph Campbell was the most difficult. It can be a very difficult concept to outline in detail. My task was to make it simple to understand.

Q: Does your book have an underlying message that readers should know about?

Yes! You (the reader) are not the only one going through spiritual emergence. It is normal and it happens to everyone. It is also very difficult, so be easy on yourself.

Q: Do you remember when the writing bug hit?

When I was a child. I’ve always loved writing.

Q: Besides books, what else do you write? Do you write for publications?

I’ve written children’s books, screenplays, stageplays – but never got too serious with them. The process of writing books really brings out what I love. I also write and design the classes that I teach.

Q: Do you have a writing tip you’d like to share?

Keep at it. If you love it, you love it enough to finish it!

Q: Would you like to tell us about your home life? Where you live? Family? Pets?

I live in the country on an acreage, near the Rocky Mountains with my husband and two teenage boys. We have two dogs, a Border Collie and a Golden Retriever.

Q: Can you tell us a little about your childhood?

I had a great childhood! I grew up in the city, but spent summers on my grandparents farm. That’s where I started my love affair with the outdoors.

Q: Where’s your favorite place to write at home?

In the kitchen.

Q: What do you do to get away from it all?

Go hiking in the mountains. Ahhhh….

Q: What was the first thing you did as far as promoting your book?

I had a “Book A Day Giveaway” for the first week! It was a lot of fun!

Q: Are you familiar with the social networks and do you actively participate?

Most definitely! I’m on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Goodreads. Have met many great people there.

Q: How do you think book promotion has changed over the years?

Book promotion using the internet has opened up amazing opportunities to reach wider audiences of people. It is really a revolution in promotion!

Q: What is the most frustrating part of being an author?

I don’t have an answer. I love writing so much – can’t complain.

Q: What is the most rewarding?

The finished book in my hand and passing it onto another.

Q: How do you think book publishing has changed over the years?

Electronic publishing is really an amazing tool. Kindle is an amazing resource that allows everyone the opportunity to break into publishing.

Q: If you had one wish, what would that be?

To have my books reach the people that need to hear the message the most.

Q: If you could be anywhere in the world other than where you are right now, where would that place be?

Home.

Q: Your book has just been awarded a Pulitzer. Who would you thank?

My family.

Q: Thank you so much for this interview, (name of author). Do you have any final words?

Thank you for the interview. All the Best.
